Moreover, in today’s world, the humble laptop is all you need to break into the music industry.įor those of you wanting to dive a bit deeper into the world of music production, a home studio is a great starting point to both develop your craft and begin working as a professional sound maker. Gone are the days of needing high tech studios to make music. Technology has come such a long way in such a short space of time. Develop your craft and experiment with new sound effects and rhythms.Īdditionally, try to replicate your favourite producer’s beats to learn first-hand from the masters themselves! Build Your Own Home Recording Studio Unless you are an unknown prodigy in the making, it’s very unlikely that your first beat will make the charts. Leave space for additional instruments and vocals. Lastly, try experimenting with different VST plugins (virtual instruments) to alter the sound of your beats and get that snare sounding just right! Step 3: Don’t OverpopulateĪlways remember, there is more to a song than just the beat. Additionally, add hi-hats, toms, cymbals, claps or any possible sound effects that will grow your simple pattern into the best beat. Step 2: Decorateīegin to build on your simple kick and snare pattern. Start with the basics – lay down a kick and snare pattern that both inspires and keeps a strong pulse. Moreover, if you want to record vocals, rap or become a professional musician, these handy tips will get you started: Step 1: Establish A Strong Foundationįirstly, every robust building must begin with a strong foundation, and it is no different when making your own beats with a beats maker. Also, you will need a basic understanding of how music works so that you can start to learn how to make beats yourself. Without a doubt, you will need a computer and either built-in speakers, headphones or some studio monitors. For me at least If I need to do a fast music production I will take something that I like and them use filter to match clips in the same tempo or tune!! Or what ever I’m really looking for.Firstly, before we dive into the world of music beat makers, let’s first discuss the basics of how to make a beat if you are a new producer. WE NEED FILTERS !!!! Without filters is an exhausting search of clips. I think so far the only real objective that the app has now is for the user of splice to use it with their mobile device and search for new samples to download and sync with splice so. I also think the app needs a lot of improve and features that could hopefully part of the new upcoming updates. As an app developer myself I know the work of doing a cross platform app specially to keep all the data base on the cloud the most stable and accurate possible. I don’t know when the app was launched but I’m really excited that splice made it to the App Store. I think this is a business that’s worthy to invest I believe if you were to optimize this app, mobile production will have another solid base to put it on the same level as PC production. There have been several occasions where I typed in the publisher or exact pack names and had completely irrelevant results pop up. The searches within the app also seem to be somewhat broken. I was extremely disappointed to find that samples and packs I’d come across were completely lost unless I loaded up Splice in my computer. I’d give the app a solid 5 if these issues were fixed. Although when trying to view your Likes and All Downloads, you are met with either a blank screen or samples that you’ve never touched upon before. The ability to download samples directly to your device is extremely convenient. Ever since I’ve had the app, it’s performed very well. Now, you can make progress on your music outside of the studio, no matter where you are.įirstly, I’d like to start this off by saying thank you for bringing Splice to mobile devices! Mobile production is slowly becoming more popular so I’m happy to see we’re getting proper recognition.
